About me
As an aerospace engineer, I have a confession to make: the time machine was 100% safe. Shielded against meteorites, fuel leaks… against everything. Everything except a spilt milkshake.
My name is Alexey, I'm the creator of Crono Caos, and because of that milkshake, three of history's greatest minds are now lost somewhere between eras.
From aeroplanes to puzzles
Before the puzzles, I designed military aircraft in Madrid and sold industrial robots in Valencia. I once climbed inside a robot to watch it work: not entirely safe, but fun — so, sadly, not a daily task. Then the crisis arrived, and I was made redundant.
While I was unemployed, I read an article about logic games, and my restless mind gave me no peace until I'd built my first escape room. That's when I made my discovery of the century: people don't come just for the surprise of the puzzles. They value the artistry, the story that ties it all together and — this is Spain, after all — the more racket the game kicks up, the better. No noise, no party.
Casting the geniuses
Crono Caos began with six geniuses. Three made the cut: auditions across the centuries are that brutal.
Zhang Heng, the Chinese sage who invented an anti-earthquake machine, ruled himself out. He never patented it — never even posted a TikTok — so the world forgot it, and now he refuses to collaborate with anyone. He stayed in Madrid, drinking coffee.
Tesla I had to leave out: he kept insisting on adding voltage "to surprise the players". Yes, Nikola. Just not like that.
Da Vinci, Marie Curie and Santiago Ramón y Cajal — the father of modern neuroscience — agreed from day one: they wanted to visit Benidorm. And since the game was born here too, they were the chosen ones.
Three geniuses: Da Vinci, Curie and Santiago Ramón y Cajal
Then someone spilt the milkshake. I'm naming no names.
Why I do it
For the look on people's faces when they discover something: that mix of surprise and pride when someone cracks a puzzle.
True story
A group of mathematicians once played. There was a numbers challenge most people prefer to skip; they insisted on solving it properly. Impossible: the numbers never added up. Miffed, they asked for a hint. They'd mixed up left and right. Minds that master abstract mathematics, defeated by driving-school vocabulary.
Since 2018, my games have welcomed schools, stag and hen dos, athletes and even Mensa members. But above all, whole families — from kids to grandparents — living the same adventure. No jet ski gives you memories like those.
One last thing
Crono Caos wasn't built in an afternoon, nor did it stay the way it first came out. I've played every episode hundreds of times in my head, and since it was born the game has already changed completely three times. It grows like a seed: every group that plays it makes it grow a little more.
A word about me, in case we ever cross paths: Russian by birth, Spanish at heart. I've settled here, I dance sevillanas, rumba and salsa, and I love a bar packed to the rafters — all noise and chaos, everyone having the time of their lives. For a Russian, highly irregular. If anything gives me away, it'll be the accent: I learned my English in Moscow, from Cambridge textbooks.
The geniuses are already waiting for you. The milkshake — best leave it at home.
